About

Dr. JoHannah Macbeth is unique in her approach to healing. As the first woman in her lineage to pursue a master’s level education and the first woman to practice medicine Dr. Macbeth takes the meaning of her full name seriously,  “noble rebel.”  Through self nurturance and constant advocation to authentically pursue her life’s calling, Dr. Macbeth has navigated a variety of avonguard educational spheres and career opportunities.

As a young child, Dr. Macbeth was always fascinated with the human body. Fond memories of staying up late at night to read books about herbs or plants or frequenting the local library to peruse anatomical textbooks were common place in her day to day.  The journey began as a homeschool graduate, seeking a skill set that was cross-cultural and translatable. Reflexology became the obvious first choice.

In 2010 she became a Certified Reflexologist in the Ingham Method of Reflexology at the International Institute of Reflexology in Saint Petersburg, Florida with the renowned nephew of Eunice Ingham, Dwight Byers as her primary teacher.

This was a transition point. The treatment room became her teacher. After hundreds and hundreds of hours working on clients feet with a wide variety conditions the next skill set necessary for self development was a degree in Applied Science from Bristol Community College. The focus of this degree also included the study of traditional therapeutic massage with Dr. Kimberly Griffith. After graduating, Dr. Macbeth lived in Cap Haitian, Haiti for a short time to partner with Hope Health Action in developing an in patient and outpatient treatment care program for rehabilitation patients at a local hospital. Additionally, in 2017 she joined an orthopedic surgical team to offer therapeutic massage in the Amazon jungle.

Later more advanced manual therapy certifications included myofascial release work, orthopedic and sports massage, pre-natal and postnatal massage with Carol Osborne, as well as Thai Massage with Suriyan Punyafoo in Chiang Mai, Thailand at the Sunshine Massage School.

At this point, Dr. Macbeth was navigating a balanced career between the resonance of music and medicine. Owning a private music teaching studio for ages 3-18, Dr. Macbeth gave private lessons as a classically trained musician for piano, viola, and violin. In 2018, through a night school for working professionals, Dr. Macbeth received her Bachelors of Science in Community Health from Roger Williams University.

Again, the treatment room challenged and expanded Dr. Macbeth’s perspective. Lessons were learned and profound healing experiences witness. First as a reflexologist, never introduced to the world of massage, a curiosity for how muscles work and move. Then, after extensive massage training, the curiosity grew to an intuitive sense that needles would and shoulder be placed at certain points of the client’s body, without prior acupuncture knowledge or experience.

The quest was to find a meeting point for science and soul while empowering patients with education of their own bodies through an even broader scope of practice.
